I don't get it. I live in Bavaria Germany and here I have never heard or seen BMWs in such bad shape as you seem to like to divulge in every BMW video you make. How about comparing car culture and showing that in the US you don't have a "maintenance/inspection culture" specially for expensive imported cars. They buy the cars and run them until they almost die without never doing any maintenance. I know this because I also lived in the US and the "throw away culture" is very present with cars.
How old do you mean? Just the e53? Or e70 too? My ‘08 4.8i X5 with 183k miles going strong with no leaks or issues aside from valve stem seals and windshield washer reservoir
well, i'm from Italy, I bought last december (2020) a bmw 320D e46, same age of this x5 (also same aestethics), to be honest mine is perfect. Surprisingly perfect. All the things you demonstrated about the climate controls falling off, the door windows, the door handle, all those things were destroyed from previous owners, people who doesn't care at all how to open a door, how to close a door (neither I, but I certainly don't break the handle neither I shut the door so hard to let the windows fall off it's guide!) this car was extremely bad treated, but the components are perfectly resistant. Can clearly show you those things in my e46... that has same aestethics, same dashboard, same all.
I'm just curious how much he gets for scrapping these Bmws, and selling the cats. Metal prices are through the roof right now. $$$$
What do you think of a 2003 BMW X5 3.0i AWD for a first car
You know Hoovie buys alot hoopties when he has to use that "Exxon oil leak" joke pretty often.
dude you can literally buy a brand new emico cat for $90 and it would work just fine
To be precise, don't by a X5 from Spartanburg County, South Carolina !
The whole monster truck part had me on the floor laughing
If you get a BMW must go to Dealership not to any Shop to get it fix and they stand behind there job when they fix it and the dealership I go to give you a loaner why they fix your car and change nothing by hourly for looking at it
i think that the previous owner didnt treat that bmw to well
I want tht gearbox
So were the cats bad?
Most funniest hoovies video ever
Well duh... I used to work at a small used car lot and the owner bought an old X5 with the 4.4 and let me tell ya it had issues when it came from auction. after he fixed it enough to sell it I loved driving it but I was glad it wasn’t mine....
I'd say part of the issue is where it's built. These were made in South Carolina and were probably the earlier builds when the plant was newer. Production was probably rushed to they could get saleable vehicles out and make their production numbers. Warrantee issues were not the plants problem. That's the new mentality and is very hazardous to a companies reputation as we can see from Hoovie and the Wizard. Great business for the Ninja so its like a bit of corporate welfare :)
Lease a new best option
My rear windows don't work and nobody has sat in the back hardly ever. What a joke these bmws drive awesome but all the plastic parts suck. My shocks went under 100k
If you get an E53 you gotta get the M54 with a 5spd. Mine had 205K before I sold it and I miss it
BMW = Buy, More, Worries.
I don’t get it, yeah any car would look like that if it went 150k miles with absolutely no maintenance . I’ve always bought first gen x3 and x5 with 100k miles and drove them well into 200k miles then sold them for decent prices. The m54 on those is solid, just keep up with leaks and overhaul the cooling system. You won’t be disappointed. Yeah that could cost like $3k, but if u pick up the car for $5k, it’s worth it considering Toyota 4runners at that mileage are like $20k and look like garbage inside with fabric seats. I have a 4Runner for a while it was garbage sold it for an x3 which i had 10 years and sold yesterday
OMG - thank you... I bought one 4 years ago and have seen all the things you pointed out!!! At least I know it’s not just me anymore... I thought I was jinxed. I have been getting out the drivers side window like someone from the Dukes of Hazzard!! Smart looking cars but OH MY GOD👹☠️☠️💩
These X5 were built in the US factory of BMW i think. Wonder which other models are built locally. I feel bad for that quality issues. I hope many people watch this video and avoid BMWs that are like this... maybe the 7xx from 2000s are a bit better!
Literally every car you search for in youtube you'll find videos like this saying to not buy or that the models are a nightmare
My x5 3.0 d e53 is 15 years old.148k miles so far so good 😊 I have heard horrid stories about the v8s tho
Crazy how in the comments people who own them love the car.... In the end we didnt get to know what was causing the miss fire.
Samcracs next amazing bargain find at copart
NAU GO GAT A HANDA OR A TOYOTA
YOU NOU THEAT WE THE ACATS OUT THE JANK YARD IS NAT GOIN TO PAY YOU MACH YOU GAT JAK VAY YOUR MACANIK .
Never buy a poorly maintained BMW X5 you mean.
No matter what cheap car you buy usually the last owners never looked after it or spent a penny on it , my bmw e46 M3 is another example of previous idiot owners
Nice vid. But you have to have in your mind where the piece was produced. Guess where. USA Never buy a „German“ car produced in the USA. MB M-Series or BMW. Here in Germany we know the problems. BM Trouble You. So the called it in the 70ies while I was an exchange student.
I got a BMW ad during this video 🤣
I bought a 2007 for 7000 cash was that a good deal
Hope someone didn't need an X5 drivers door in that colour rofl
What Year Is It?
at 18:43 you should have done some dough nuts and tire burn out
I paid $2300 for an 04 x5 6 speed manual with a M54 3 years ago still got it no issues all I did was 2 front axles & a tensioner I got rid of my 01 540i M Package stick before ever even thinking about getting rid of my E53 lol been good to me looks amazing previous owner had 20 inch factory 4.6is wheels on it shoot it ain't going no where anytime soon lol.
Actually, BMW was known for their plastics during that era. They were known to be the worst plastic ever made.
didn't you say no emissions in Kansas? sounds great to me!! running great.
Actually if you do the work yourself it’s not expensive at all
Anybody knows what diagnostic tool Johnny is using?I see it’s a MaxiSys. But can’t read the exact model.
This guy cracks me up.😁 😆 😅 😂 🤣😁 😆 😅 😂 🤣😁 😆 😅 😂 🤣😁 😆 😅 😂 🤣😁 😆 😅 😂 🤣
Maybe a trip down the junkyard would of helped ? Ebay would of had cheap parts
Okay, keying the door at the end was a little unnecessary but I guess it gets the point across.
get to the point sir - entirely too much intro time. you know what you are talking about but this should have been a five minute video.
Idk what you talking about but i still drive my 02 x5 and it's in great condition and I just put new tires on .... THAT BITCH GET UP 💨💨
I was browsing kijiji for used BMWs and came across this video. An older Camry seems way more attractive now.
I got one with 300kkm on, did another 100kkm and sold still running. The mech was a bit iffy, border line . In those models misfire is caused by plastic vacuum lines and intake leaks. Cats usually cease the motors and he knows about it for sure.
I had 2 "X5 " 3.0 Diesel, driven each 250 K Km, each (first and second gen), without any problems...what is wrong with BMW in the USA ? Lack of maintenance ? TLC ? Good mechanics (except Ninja)? I wonder.Cheers, from Europe.
X5 is à great sub if you replàce the powertràin with a toyota powertràin
I have a BMW X5 E53 auto 2001 love it to bits do all my own repairs as you say loads in the scap yards parts are cheap in the UK and so are after market parts
Never buy any late model BMW
Dude its an over priced. Poorly designed Pontiac Aztec
In conclusions, stay away from the German brands.
2 min in, soooo the alpina???
My parents have the i6 01 x5 been owning it for 16 years. Still runs great, they did put 5k in repairs but I say for the amount of time they've had it, it's not bad
So i bought a CLEAN WHITE 2006 4.4 x5 for $4000 it had 70k miles on it Changed Coil packs and fan and put 20k miles on it with no issues then boom needed new headgasket replaced for $3000 so instead i sold it as is for 4k obo and took 3k for it and used that to put down on a 2008 328i :) i miss the x5 i drove while i was stationed in cold Ft still Oklahoma will always hold great memories thats my x5 story Bmw For life
No wonder Germany lost the war.
Man, you make funniest car videos, these are a blast to watch.
There is one near me for sell for 2500 but I guess I will pass
I wish I had of seen this before I bought one. So glad I sold it before I got totally raped. This video was bloody hilarious!
Here’s why you shouldn’t own a BMW
8:36 A bit of an awkward question if you're the owner of the white X5 in the background.
Did anyone notice the white x 5 behind them in 8:55
You receive a BMW as gift? Never received a bicycle as a gift.
Thanks for reminding me to never buy BMW.
I wonder how much it's worth to part it out. If new parts are so expensive, perhaps it's worth a lot in parts if each is sold seperately.
Drive it until the inspection is due !
Remind me not to get a BMW !
Not gonna lie after hearing it without the cats id definitely be keeping it
Those door lock actuators are great fun. Mine broke on my 03 z4 and it was a pain in the butt to replace, but definitely doable
That's quieter than the majority of vehicles in the town where I live which is predominantly Hispanic, they would love that thing.
Is there a used BMW you should buy?
It's funny there is an x5 on the lift next to it
You should never buy a BMW.....PERIOD.
I'd get a 30d instead tho
“Drug dealer’s car”
BMW's are so unreliable.Audi as well. The myth of German engineering.
That thing doesn't belong at scrip yard it's needs 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This video is unfair to BMW. You said you bought the car with 150,000 miles on it for a little over $1,000. Come on man for that price did you really think the vehicle was running pristine?
My boyfriend drives a x3 and it sucks. My 07 Buick is way more comfortable and reliable haha
this is how it looks like when car is owned by absolute idiot .... wehad our BMW X5 E53 with 3,0diesel for 440.000km with no issue ... problem here is in user not in the car ...
Is the transmission a good unit or is it just that X5 doesn't stay running good long to break the trans? HaHaHa..
Wish I seen this before I bought mines last year. I literally have all the same issues
Made to be disposable after 100k
ok so what was wrong with it some plastics and some bushings a bad coil pack or someone put regular gas in it. he said the check engine light would come and go. I cant think of many cars i have ever been in that had a check engine light come and go they usually never go off in other cars. Even with all the dumb shit fucked up on this x5 the light only comes and goes. I will say this also i have owned plenty bmws and have loved all of them but i have had only few problems and those problems were caused my neglectful tendencies when i repaired minor shit and have learned from my mistakes and it has made me into an almost professional mechanic by working on these vehicles because you cant be a dumbass and work on gods vehicle only gods can work on gods vehicle anything less is blasphemy in the highest degree. I had my differential lock up on me a few weeks ago because i neglected to put the right amount of oil in the damn thing because i forgot about it when i redid my timing. I called every junk yard for a 100 mile radius even every pull a part which is about 5 around me even as far as 300 miles from me i could not find a single x5, 540,740,750 or any compatible bmw anywhere no junk yard that i contacted had a single bmw but they had plenty chevys, fords, toyotas, honda by the cargo boat load, nissans, subarus, gmc, buick, mercedes, audis, volkswagens, that tells me one of two things either BMW owners are to clingy with their bmw and cant let it go because they love it to damn much even if it breaks or they cant let it go because they are tight wads or they just never actually break like people think because people like this guy give them a bad name when he himself is having the time of his life in a beat down bmw with an occasional check engine light when chevy and honda owners have to take the bulb out to get it to go off lol its easy to find parts for them because they are so abundantly available everywhere peoples yards, junk yards, on the side of the road, ect lol this guy is a retard in my book and he should be ashamed for imprinting this idiotic thought process into weak minds. BUY AN X5 straight pipe it with some good tips throw some 20s on it you like drop it paint it and fucking enjoy the feeling of having the best sex with a vehicle you have ever had
@BLACK BIMMER I fucking love you lol i've seen your name several times before on forums i have read but any way this guy black beemer is completely right I own one of these and I love it. It has almost 200k miles i bought it at the car auction where we go to because i am a car dealer and a certified mechanic and i have driven almost every vehicle on the face of this planet and all in all i have loved this year model BMW more than any other vehicle i have ever had. Yes they do have certain problems like the timing issue and so does every other vehicle with a v-type engine. All v-type engines have guide problems that if not fixed at the time of recommended service it will destroy the engine and yes if you bring it to the dealership to get it fixed it will cost more to have it fixed than what you paid for the vehicle itself but if you are a mechanic and repair it yourself you will realize why BMWs are the best vehicles on the streets and you will also realize that everyone that says they are complicated to work on are complete ignorant idiots because i can redo the timing on a bmw x5 faster than i can remove an engine from a honda civic 1.8 with an extra hand. The timing has special tools you have to order that hold the cams in place and the crank in place where they are set and don't move while doing the job you can remove the chain and repair everything in just a few minutes time and then upon reassembly you time the vehicle with a voltmeter believe it or not with a voltmeter ya i said it and you don't have to line up marks on gears or any dumb shit. all the parts if removed in the proper order by someone that knows how to follow proper procedure will be able to tear the front of the engine down in less than 45 minutes flat. this guy is also right about the maintenance, people do not know how to maintain a vehicle and if you even put the wrong color antifreeze in these vehicles they will throw up on you literally they will spit the shit back out through the weep hole on the water pump because they dont drink boxed wine from the quicky mart if you put green antifreeze in them you will destroy the entire plastic water system in one day. They drink blue only, they take premium gas ONLY because they are HI-PO vehicles not meant for average pussy pedal prius driving bitches this vehicle in the rare 5.0 Hamann edition cost around 100k when it was new and is a performance monster i literally tried doing donuts in golden corral parking lot in mine during a fucking monsune and the all wheel drive capabilities on my x5 4.4i would not let me with trac control all the way off in 1st gear it had so much traction it would give you whiplash. they pull of at the light so hard they will give you a crick in you neck my wife literally removed the headrest from her seat because she got tired of smashing her head into it when i took off or when i was just cruising and decided to gas on it to fuck with her. Only true car guys and gals will know what a quality vehicle is and feels like this guy is picking out picky ass little details like hes high class with his nose in the air
Hate to see you abuse that car.
I don't understand why people buy bmws. BMWs business model is to lease cars for a few years once the lease is up they fall apart and scrapped and they bring out the new model. Rinse and repeat.
The diesel and petrol 6 cylinder Manuel's ones in the UK are pretty reliable can't say the same for the V8
BMW==MONEYPIT . Don't do it folks.
They'd sell that at a premium in South Africa. The racing pipes make it all good
Honestly wishing I watched this earlier because I bought mine for a solid deal, 63k miles 2013 for 16k. But I’ve already been left on the side of the road from a failed water pump and had to replace a valve cover gasket....
Owning a ‘13 i6 X5 a lot of these problems are still there 😭😂
Dude you're tallllllll! But great vid
Sell the transmission, tires, and interior!
"Welcome to Hoovies Garage! The dumbest YouTube channel" Yes I agree... buying once expensive premium money cars and expecting them to be cheap to fix!
